English 2010 has successfully taught me how to write in multiple genres while appropriately applying style and design for any given situation. I have learned how to research and apply critical and rhetorical skills into my writing. I have become better at drafting and revising my documents for the best outcome. I now have a better understanding on the appropriate way to cite my sources. I have enjoyed working collaboratively on assignments with others in my group, and I am now better at participating in group conversation and helping edit others work for better results. Each and every assignment has made me improve my writing skills as well as my critical thinking skills. I now feel more confident in my writing now more than ever before. My most challenging assignment was the profile assignment. It was hard for me to write about someone's life, especially when the subject is sensitive to the person I am writing about. I addressed those challenges by using the skills I learned to include the maximum detail I could for the given situation. My classmates and my teacher also had great incites on how I could improve my paper; this helped me to get an idea on what I needed to include within my paper. The assignments I have selected for my ePortfolio are the assignments I feel I have been able to improve with a little feedback from others. I also feel that the subject I chose to write about for this course has my heart put into my work, which makes it a difference when you are writing about something. The assignment I enjoyed most was the public service announcement in a group setting. I enjoyed this the most because we all evenly worked together and it was fun to see how the final results came together with all of the groups input. I really enjoyed English 2010. I am now a more successful confident writer than I was before I took this class. My skills I have learned will follow me in my future journey.
Report – Pain Medication Used for Chronic pain
This assignment involved a lot of research and different sources. I was able to learn a lot while researching and writing this paper. I was able to provide rhetorical response for the opportunity of change, write on a specific research and form a hypothesis related to my topic while applying thoughtful and through research and also providing a clear purpose and reason for change. My report to me is much more than a general report. It has meaning to me because I have experienced a loved one go through a hard time with chronic pain and pain medication and truly believe that change needs to be made.
Proposal - Lower the Rate of Pain Medication Prescribed For Chronic Pain
For this assignment I was able to provide a proposal for
change. I wanted to prove why pain
medication for chronic pain is not always the best answer and what needs to be
changed. I also suggested ways we can
work together to change the problem and how it will help improve people under
these circumstances lives for the better. I also include examples of people’s
struggles with chronic pain and pain medication. In this assignment I was also to successfully show
the ability to add multimedia into my paper.
Public Service Announcement – Why choose online classes?
In this assignment, as a group we were able to work collaboratively with others to create a public service announcement ad. We effectively provided awareness to our audience about the benefits of taking online classes. Working as a group had its challenges. I would say the most challenging part was not being able to talk to all the group members at the same time because this was an online assignment; we were able to get through the challenges and provide a great final result. Each individual member was successful at providing their opinion which was all cooperated into the final paper. I enjoyed working with a group and it helps to have everyone’s creative thinking involved in order to offer a terrific public service announcement.
