In this assignment, I was to complete the governmental accounting cycle by determining what account is appropriate for each journal entry. I prepared journal entries, posted the entries to the general ledger, and created the appropriate statements for each fund. I also prepared journal entries needed to convert the governmental funds financial statements to government-wide financial statements. This comprehensive problem helped put the pieces together after learning individually about each fund and statement. This assignment as well as the complete course was a challenge for me. After learning for profit accounting, I found governmental accounting to be confusing and awkward to follow. This problem and course has helped me become more efficient in governmental accounting and understand the basics. It has also helped improve my skills in accounting overall.
